Some characters you should know…

About… Jack Large

Jack is an aspiring middle–class, balding hippy due for, at least, a minor mid–life crisis. Jack has a liking for a stress–free life with plenty of holidays and fun. Jack’s interests include: alternative operating systems, bad kung–fu movies, running, good music, bird watching while washing–up and reading books ‘above my station’. Jack’s hero is Homer (Simpson, not the Greek poet) closely followed by the Dude.

About… The Wife

What can I say — the love of my life enjoys gardening, making cards, organising groups of small people (children), socialising, eating and sleeping. She’s not technical and doesn’t do manuals. She can often be heard saying that she wouldn’t be able to do anything on a computer if it wasn’t for me (not always in a positive way either). Her hero is (I’ll ask her later).

About… The Girl

The Girl gets away with murder on a regular basis (as is expected of a junior school girl). Should be in bed by 7:30pm but usually manages to hang it out till at least 8:00. As an only child she has the run of the affections and makes the most of it. Her interests include: horses, dogs, guinea–pigs — basically anything cute and/or fluffy, cycling, swimming, playing with her friends. What we’d like her interests to be: reading, writing, spelling, listening to her parents. Emma’s hero is Black Beauty.

About… The Non–Geeky Friend

I have known The NGF for some time and so he is quietly accepting of most of my weird ideas or new projects that are obviously going nowhere. He’s funny and doesn’t mind that I have no real interest in football or water–based adventures (he’s a qualified scuba–diving tutor). His interests include War (the history of), rock/mountain climbing, VW campers, mountain–boarding (basically anything that involves being fashionably masochistic). His hero is Margaret Thatcher (kidding).
